Logitech Smartdock now Supports Dual Monitor

Exciting news for the Logitech Smartdock: The new update, version 3, for the Skype Room System includes dual monitor support and themes. We’ve been having a little play with it today, and its all pretty impressive. Obviously in a meeting room situation you would have two same-size screens alongside each other. The dual monitors mean the users can see and communicate with all meeting participants on one screen, whilst sharing content and collaborating on the second screen.     This is a great new feature, which updates automatically as part of the windows...

Demo facility featuring the new Logitech SmartDock now open

Back in October we announced we were moving to new office/demo facilities in Newmarket. We are delighted to announce that the demo facility is now open and ready for appointments. The demo facility showcases meeting and conference room solutions including the brand-new Logitech SmartDock. The SmartDock is a collaboration between Logitech and Microsoft. It is designed to transform regular Skype for Business meetings into conference/meeting rooms. Essentially it is a dock that turns a Surface Pro 4 into a centralized communication hub that can be connected to your existing video displays and video cameras certified for Skype for Business. The stylish SmartDock is designed to make it as easy of possible for an attendee to join a meeting. There is a motion sensor on the front bezel so the unit will wake up from sleep mode when someone walks into the conference room. When a room receives an invite to a Skype for Business meeting, the meeting will appear on the Surface Pro screen. An attendee simply touches the meeting to join. SmartDock adds all the connectivity you could want, including HDMI for 1080p displays, three USB ports, Gigabit Ethernet, and headset jack. The optional Extender Box keeps conference tables clean and clutter-free. When you need to share a presentation, demo, or other content on your laptop, simply connect through the HDMI input built into SmartDock and begin presenting from your personal device. If you are looking for a meeting room solution, the SmartDock is definitely worth considering. Other solution available to demo include Logitech SRS, Polycom Group Series, Polycom Trio, Biamp Devio and Barco ClickShare. If you would like to demo...

What is Microsoft Office 365 Cloud PBX?

Firstly, what is a PBX? A PBX (Private Branch Exchange) is a company’s telephone system. Historically it was mostly based on hardware and located on site. Cloud PBX is, in simple terms, your phone system in the Cloud. It’s Microsoft’s technology for enabling call control and PBX capabilities in the Office 365 cloud via Skype for Business Online. Now users can use Cloud PBX to take care of basic telephone call control tasks: They can make, manage and receive calls, at work, home and on the road using which ever device they wish – phone, laptop, mobile devices etc. Calls within your organization are handled by Skype for Business. Skype for Business (offered as part of the Microsoft Office 365 package) has become a popular method of communicating within and between companies, but until recently didn’t offer the telephone functionality. To enable calls outside your organization, you would need to be connected to the PSTN (public switched telephone network). There at two ways you can do this: Purchasing the PTSN Calling service add-on to Office 365 This is an add-on to Office 365, and means users will be homed in the cloud with no on-premises server deployment required. PSTN Calling allows you to search, acquire, and assign phone numbers to users in your organization so that users can make and receive phone calls with people inside and outside of your organization. There are international and domestic subscriptions available. Benefits: Cheaper and faster to get started. Pay one bill for all your communications. All the latest updates delivered automatically. Pick new numbers or port existing numbers. No need for any...

1plex is the first UK company to complete the Anywhere365 Certified Partner Programme

Last week one of our UC Engineers, Paul Coles, completed a training course for Anywhere365 Universal Contact Centre, making 1plex the first UK company to complete the Certified Partner Programme. Anywhere365 by WorkStreamPeople is a feature rich, cost effective, enterprise grade Unified Contact Centre solution for Microsoft Skype-for-Business and Lync. Watch this clip to find out more about Anywhere365: The training with WorkStreamPeople was held at their office, in a beautiful building called Van Nelle Factory in Rotterdam, Holland. They had the opportunity to get to grips with the huge variety of features by installing their own UCC in a prepared lab environment. This allowed them to set up the software and play about with the settings, configuring each additional component to their own unique UCC. When discussing the course, Paul said: “The course itself was very interesting and I learnt a lot about how it works and what it can do. They are developing new features all the time. I was very impressed with it and the additional possibilities of the web chat and integration with CRM systems.” When discussing it’s potential in the UK, PauI added: “It really does have huge potential for clients. Its features make it very scalable, meaning it’s a perfect solution for all businesses whether you’re a small call centre or a full sales and marketing call centre team.
